Summary:

Concerning the rights to the title of the house on Albemarle Street; informing him that Sir John Johnstone, through his attorney, has applied for the Title Deeds to the house and questioning "whether you are intitled to this House, as forming part of the personal Estate of Lady Bath or whether Sir John is intitled;" reporting on an agreement between a Mr. Adam and Sir William Pulteney which may affect the outcome; copying that memorandum of agreement dated January 26, 1785 in which Mr. Adam agrees to pay Mr. Pulteney 6% interest for the money "laid out in purchasing the House in Albemarle Street, and also for the additions to be made both not to exceed £2600 and also to pay all taxes - to take a Lease of it, and to have a purchasing Clause, in our favor within the first six years for the money laid out;" commenting "If this Agreement should be considered as placing Sir William in the Situation of a Mortgagee lending the money, then the Law, will always consider him to, notwithstanding the 6 years are expired - I believe there is no doubt of the facts, and that Sir William meant to assist Messrs. Adam, by lending them the money but this is inconsistent with the Agreement which provides for a Rent, at the Rate of six per cent - I do not recollect that this Agreement was found in the Book Case in the Library;" informing him of issues concerning various other legal matters.
