Notifying him, by orders of His Royal Highness the Commander in Chief, "that a suspension of arms has been agreed upon between the two Armies, in consequence of which hostilities are to cease; all field works are to be suspended, such measures as might have been required for purposes of defence & which tend to distress the county are not now to be further pursued : The Posts now held are to be maintained - no intercourse is to be allowed with the Enemy, & you are held responsible that the same Vigilance in respect to duty shall exist as heretofore."
