Summary
Saying he's very happy to learn that Rosenberg is going to organize exhibitions of French art in New York. It's a great stroke of luck for everyone who loves painting. He hopes that Rosenberg will be able to leave NY for a while because it's so hot there. The weather in France is more bearable. Masson is working happily but can't avoid thinking about the situation in Europe. He says that they [artists] have to work in a way that's true to themselves and save everything that's dear to them. He hopes for a defeat of the Germans--he can't believe in a definitive triumph of darkness and horror.
