Summary
Concerning an unauthorized leave of absence by an officer and an order for his arrest and Court Martial; discussing the mutiny at Sheerness; saying he had a letter from M. General Fox who reported that "every thing remains quiet at Sheerness but the Seamen persevere in their determination not to submit, untill the Lords of the Admiralty come down, when it is thought by the Adm'l there & Commissioners that perfect submission will be established. I have written to the Duke of York on the subject, for the sooner something is done the better, for fear of worse, & the Militia Reg'ts that went [illegible[ Canterbury under the Command of Gen'l Fox, tho, now well disposed, may have their [illegible] poisoned, incendiaries being dispersed & at work. The Seamen are quite peaceable & keep up a strict discipline in the ships, but much irritated at the soldiers coming, & which I always thought would be the case, & prolong the business."
