Summary
Concerning Vassal's application for a share in the Helder Prize money; saying he has looked everywhere for "a Copy of the order appointing Vassal Asst Adj't General to the Dutch expedition" but cannot find it; enclosing Vassal's affidavit (MA 1262.13) which he hopes will be sufficient; asking if there has been a resolution on the subject of interest to be paid to him; commenting on the Truce, "From Mr. Addington's hopes and Satisfactions I conjecture the continuation of the truce is determined upon; in Feb'ry last you said, you was sure Buonaparte would suffer himself to be bullied, & from Mr. Addington's Speech you certainly must have prophesied."
