Thanking him for his letter; noting that he was just visited by his brother, Robert, who was "in great health and spirits" because "the campaign in Ireland ... agreed with him perfectly"; commenting on the campaign in Germany; saying that he thinks "the fall or at least the diminution of the French Power is commencing"; speculating that "the next great efforts of the Austrians will be to reconquer Switzerland"; informing him that he plans to sail for England in the middle of May.
