Discussing his testimony before the House of Commons in the 1809 case involving the Duke of York's possible misconduct related to his mistress's [Mary Anne Clarke's] promising promotions to officers in return for payment; noting that the Duke of Argyll has "been obliged to go to Scotland" so Lord John Campbell will be speaking on his behalf; enclosing a printed statement about his role in the case (cataloged separately as MA 1261.4).
