Summary
Clarifying his rank and that of Colonel Maitland; saying "...you have been misinformed, when you suppose that Colonel Maitland is to serve in the Rank of Major General. The local Rank conferred on him on the present occasion is that of Brigadier General, - and should you serve in the same Army with him, your local Rank will be that of Brigadier General, and you will take Rank according to your standing as Colonel, and not according to the date of your Commission as Brigadier."
