Summary:

Replying to questionnaire questions about his own work; saying he is working on a "novel entitled VITAL PARTS, the third in the series (CRAZY IN BERLIN, 1958; REINHART IN LOVE, 1962) about Carlo Reinhart, a winning loser, an enormous nonentity, a victim of passions and volitions, a lineal descendant of the Piltdown man and other anthropological frauds;" replying to a question about a possible next project, "Playing it close to my chest until it is well underway. Those books I announce at the outset I never finish;" replying to a question about whether he has a long-range plan for himself, "I seldom look further than the sentence under composition. Among the rubbish in the back of my head there lie slumbering multiple possibilities. Some will be awakened; others will prove inanimate. It is unlikely, however, that in the next decade reality will interest me any more than it has in the last four and a half. Therefore I shall probably continue to write fiction." .
