Those books I announce at the outset I never finish;" replying to a question about whether he has a long-range plan for himself, "I seldom look further than the sentence under composition. Among the rubbish in the back of my head there lie slumbering multiple possibilities. Some will be awakened; others will prove inanimate. It is unlikely, however, that in the next decade reality will interest me any more than it has in the last four and a half. Therefore I shall probably continue to write fiction." .
