Concerning a Writers Conference he is chairing at Hollins College for which he needs financial support; requesting an advance on the proceeds from the future publication of Ralegh for this purpose; proposing an arrangement and setting forth the terms; expressing the immediacy of the need so that he can "go ahead full speed & hold Conference together in face of a little local opposition. Little but strong;" asking if he would also write to Hollins College and tell them how important this Conference will be for the College, how fully committed George Garrett is to its success and that he has the backing of Doubleday; enclosing literature on the Conference.
