Summary
Thanking him for his letter and saying that he and Kitty [Carlisle Hart] both drank a silent toast the night the show closed and thought of all of you. I do wish, for all our sakes, that all that effort and headache and heart-ache had been better rewarded;" telling him he will be meeting with Jack Warner and "shall be delighted to see what I can do for you;" adding that "Gentleman's Agreement" is a real 'toughie' and has many problems I never contemplated, so that it looks like I'll be here a great deal longer than I expected to, but it's all in a very good cause;" adding in an autograph postscript, "Just returned from that conference. I put on a big sales talk for you and they are writing you direct. All I ask is ten percent."
