Summary
Telling her that he "got hold of another typewriter" through "the soulful fellow who came swimming through the woods, whistling Mozart"; reporting that he just wrote "another draft of the story and a letter to [her] father"; noting that their "fat, beer-drinking sergeant is so amiable and civilized that he can make most of [them] feel that [they]'re not out on anything more serious than a badly managed picnic"; describing a trip into town with "Charlie" during which they "went to a dance at the Eagle Club" and ate a lot of food; thanking her for her two letters and the money order.
