Summary
Commenting on the heat; telling her that they are going to be firing "the machine guns again at targets that jump out of the woods and that are supposed to represent men"; writing, "we have all decided now -- like a lot of small children -- that if they send us to an embarkation point without giving us furlough we will all run away. This is a lot of nonsense, of course. They have no intention of sending soldiers with so little training to any embarkation point."
