Summary
Reporting that "the big money order" and the "socks that Polly knitted" came; describing the day's activities, including "the usual exercises with rifles, a lecture on mobile warfare, first aid, a demonstration of the obstacle course ..., grenade throwing, marching, bayonet drill"; remarking that they are confined to their barracks for the evening to prepare them for inspection; adding that the "quarantine has been lifted," but they haven't been given "identification tags yet so the quarantine really isn't lifted"; wishing he could "find a quiet private home outside Spartanburg where [he] could work on Sundays."
