Summary
Telling him that he is setting out for Auchinleck tomorrow; reporting that he has "gone the full round of the Home Circuit" and "though [he] did not get a single brief, do[es] not repent of the expense, as [he is] showing [him]self desirous of business and imbibing legal knowledge"; discussing his efforts to get Temple's son promoted from Midshipman to Lieutenant; alluding to his "matrimonial schemes"; adding that his "magnum opus [Life of Johnson] sells wonderfully; twelve hundred are now gone, and we hope the whole seventeen hundred may be gone before Christmas."
