Summary
Explaining that he is writing a short letter instead of a long one because his "old friend [David] Ross, the player, died suddenly yesterday morning" and he is to be "chief mourner"; advising him to have his daughter accept her suitor; adding that Temple's daughter "is indeed a charming girl, and was much admired here, even by the critic [Edmond] Malone."
