Describing a visit to Chester with Colonel [James?] Stuart; remarking that he spent time with the Bishop of Chester [Beilby Porteus] and "Dean [William] Smith, the translator of Longinus"; adding that he has had a severe cold since returning home; reporting that he is reading "Lord Monboddo's 'Ancient Metaphysics'"; complaining about the influence his father's second wife has over his father; asking if Temple can loan him £200.
