Describing his courtship of Miss Blair in great detail; reporting that he told her he was "most sincerely in love with her," and her response was that she did not have any particular liking for him; asking Temple whether he should "boldly shake her off" or "suffer some time & watch her heart"; wondering whether her indifference is "a real fault"; reporting that his mistress in Edinburgh "has brought [him] the finest little girl [he] ever saw."
