Summary
Reporting that he is leaving England and going to Gibraltar; explaining that he was just appointed to Gibraltar "three weeks since" and can write "very few lines" because he is so busy "winding up all [his] different business" before he leaves the country; commenting on Dalton's work on "the Ground about Head Quarters at Halifax"; noting that he wants Dalton "only to stay so much longer in America as may enable him to get a very choice collection of seeds and plants, with these he will himself then come over to England and afterwards lose no time in joining [the Duke] at Gibraltar"; asking him to tell "Sir John and Lady Wentworth" that he "sincerely regret[s] the loss of their society & hospitality"; telling Wetherall, "you know the pleasure I should have to see you again attached to my staff, but I fear there is nothing at Gibraltar that I could offer you worth your acceptance"; sending advice to [George Stracey?] Smyth for how best to advance his career.
