With a poem of three stanzas labeled "For the Transcript" and signed with Whittier's initials. The poem begins, "You ask a merrier strain of me"; it was published in The Transcript on Feb. 5, 1959 and later revised and published as "Overruled" in 1878.
With a printed version of the poem pasted to the letter.
