Summary
Attempting to clear his conduct in Wellesley's mind (regarding his supposed opposition to Wellesley's appointment to a political office); complaining that Wellesley is showing people letters he marked as private and confidential; remarking that he was hurt to learn from rumors instead of from Wellesley himself that Wellesley had accepted the "seals of the Foreign Office"; arguing that his letters were not meant to "fetter [Wellesley's] conduct, or even to prejudice [his] opinions"; further defending his own conduct and complaining about Wellesley's in recent political and personal matters.
