Summary
Concerning the timing of departure from Spain and return to England; encouraging him "not to think it necessary to return immediately without waiting at least until another foreign Sec. of State shall be appointed - In the present state of things I cannot judge either who, or of what description he will be, but it will not be either for your own Character, or for the interest of the Country, that you should quit Spain at so critical a time instantly on hearing that an [illegible] (however eminent & respectable) has quitted Office. The confusion in which all public affairs must be thrown, if such a practice were to prevail in foreign trusts need not be stated to you...a sudden departure is not necessary to maintain your principles of attachment inviolable..."
