Summary
Expressing his anxiety "for [Wellesley's] right decision on the point which [Canning] submitted to [him] last night"; explaining why he thinks Wellesley should make a certain decision [probably to accept a position in the Duke of Portland's cabinet]; warning that Wellesley's not having been included in either of the two recent "great changes" [in government] may "have the effect of countenancing, if it does not create the impression which [Wellesley's] Enemies will be too happy to circulate, that there is something in [Wellesley's] case which unfits [him] for the service of the public"; discussing what he thinks will happen to the government; arguing that they should act "with that cordiality & confidence towards each other, which will give [their] joint opinion a weight"; encouraging him to fill an office so it won't go to "an inferior participant."
