Hoping that he will come to Montfort during the summer so that he may see him at Montbard; writing that he is still at Montbard because of poor weather and poor health; referring to an occasion on which he has seen M. de Ruffey and noticed his continued health and vigor; expressing regret at having missed him and his son [Frédéric-Henri-Richard de Ruffey] while they were in Paris, as well as the son's "jeune Dame" [his wife, Marie-Charlotte Hocquart de Cuœilly]; mentioning a statue raised in his honor [in the Jardin du Roi] which was kept secret from him; writing that "un homme sage doit plus craindre l'envie que faire cas de sa gloire."
