Summary
Thanking M. de Ruffey for finding him two horses to buy, which he will purchase for 300 francs; explaining that he should send them with a coachman right away, and that he will pay the man's travel fees with the addition of one louis as a gratuity; recounting that he came down with a cold after M. de Ruffey left and that he is still unwell; mentioning [Jean-Étienne-Bernard de Clugny de Nuits, formerly of the Parlement of Dijon] and predicting that he will conduct himself honorably in his new position [at the Contrôle général des finances]; comparing [Clugny] favorably to to his predecessor, [Anne-Robert-Jacques Turgot, baron de l'Aulne]; writing that M. [Antoine-Jean] Amelot [de Chaillou] has an easier position [Secretary for the Maison du Roi], and that he will succeed by doing as M. [Louis Phélypeaux, comte de Saint-Florentin, duc] de la Vrillière did for fifty-two years; commenting that this program is the one embraced by M. [Jean-Frédéric Phélypeaux, comte] de Maurepas, "qui vient de les placer tous deux."
