Summary
Writing of the death of Mme de La Forest [mother-in-law of M. de Ruffey]; advising him to settle the will amicably, even if it means giving things up; hoping to see him in April at Montfort; suggesting that, even if the furniture is not sold, M. de Ruffey should be sure to get rid of "tout ce qui mange," with a list of animals to be sold; praising the gardens of the Académie [de Dijon]; mentioning that he has heard that M. [Bénigne Bouhier] de Lantenay and M. [Charles] de Brosse[s] seek the post of premier président, but that M. [Pierre-Anne Chesnard] de Layé will probably remain in place; commenting that a certain porphyry table will look very nice in the study of M. de Ruffey, and that he will not be able to sell it at its value anyway; discussing the supression of the corvée with regard to road construction; writing that, "Le Roi [Louis XVI] a marqué dans cette occasion une tendresse de Père [pour?] son peuple."
