Summary
Praising the poetry "du jeune homme" [Nicolas-Louis-François de Neufchâteau] who has just been accepted into the Academy of M. de Ruffey; sending an order so that M. de Ruffey can procure the two latest volumes of [L'Histoire naturelle]; lamenting the misfortunes [his son's death] of the President [Charles] de Brosse[s]; complimenting his [Le traité de la formation mécanique des langues]; praising M. de Ruffey as the "pere" and the "âme" of his Academy; discussing the plates that he will add to L'histoire naturelle, of which four books are already on sale, each for 15-24 livres; explaining that he cannot send a free copy because the work belongs to his painters and engravers, and that there will only be 450 copies; inviting M. de Ruffey to subscribe to the work; writing that he can see the books in the homes of M. [Claude-Denis-Marguerite Rigoley] de Puligny, M. [Thomas] du Morey, and M. [René-Joseph] Hébert.
