Jobard; writing that he must have received the two volumes [of L'histoire naturelle] from M. [Charles] de Brosses by way of M. [Jean-Philippe Fyot de la Marche, seigneur] de Neuilly [cf. MA 863.17]; praising "notre ancien premier President" [Claude-Philibert Fyot de la Marche] for his intelligence and for the fact that he is not a fanatic like "les trois quarts de votre Parlement"; commenting on the fact that people who have received a function worth twenty or thirty thousand francs would at once consider themselves "tuteurs des roys"; commenting on the political problems occuring in Dijon; expressing his happiness that M. de Ruffey has remained separate from "cette vilaine bagarre."
