Summary
Recounting that he enjoyed Mme. de Ruffey's visit and that he has great esteem for her daughters; lamenting that M. de Ruffey never accompanies her on these trips; explaining that the word "Ignée" is new and not widely used, and that he is not sure of its pronunciation; writing that the "genie de la langue" suggests that it be pronounced, "Inniée," but that he prefers to use its Latin pronunciation, "igneus" since the word is uncommon; adding that he believes it should be underlined when written or printed; sending his regards to M. [Jean-Bernard] Michault and to M. de Ruffey on behalf of Mme. de Ruffey; mentioning that he will soon leave for Paris where he will visit the sons of M. de Ruffey [Frédéric Henry and Charles Richard, comte de Vesvrotte], whom Mme. de Ruffey has visited on a previous trip.
