Summary
Explaining that the lateness of his response has been caused by "rhumatisme" that has left him without the use of his hand; writing that Mme. de La Forest has sent him a remedy that he has not tried, and that she has told him that Mme. de Ruffey is suffering from a simliar illness that prevents her from walking; asking M. de Ruffey to pass his compliments to his [M. de Ruffey's] wife; explaining that Mme. de Buffon has not yet recovered and that she will be in bed another eight or fifteen days; stating that he will write to the Abbé [Jean-Bernard] Le Blanc who finds himself in difficult circumstances, in which he is in great need of the friendship of M. de Ruffey; recounting that his health prevents him from leaving for Paris for another fifteen days and that he hopes to see him [l'Abbé Le Blanc] upon his return from Dijon; hoping that M. de Ruffey will be able to meet with them as well.
