Summary
Explaining that he has sent two hundred livres for the two containers of wine sent by M. de Ruffey (c.f. MA 863.10); complimenting wine and asking for more in the future; discussing speech made by [Jean Le Rond] d'Alembert to the Académie [française] and explaining that it was not entirely successful; mentioning speech given by Gresset on bishops, which he found "assez hors de propos"; stating that, though the Abbé [Pierre-Joseph Thoulier] d'Olivet claims to be great friends with M. de Ruffey, M. de Buffon finds him very unpleasant; asking for news of M. de Ruffey's aunt and the undertakings of his Académie.
