Mentioning trip to Montfort; lamenting quarrel between M. de Ruffey and Buffon household caused by Mme. de Ruffey, then by M. de Buffon himself; discussing debt he owes to M. de Ruffey for white and red wine that he has sent, asking the sum so that he may send it to Dijon; asking if M. de Ruffey has written anything about the arrival of [Louis Joseph de Bourbon], Prince de Condé, and if so, asking for a copy; mentioning arrival of Docteur [Louis-Jean-Marie] Daubenton in fifteen days and stating that the Docteur will be pleased to know the secret to keeping birds devised by the Cathusian of Nancy; writing that the Abbé le Blanc must have sent M. de Ruffey a translation of the work of [David] Hume on commerce, which M. de Buffon enjoyed as well; explaining that his wife is very attached to Mme. de Ruffey that she hopes to welcome them to her house again.
