Explaining that his travels have affected his ability to send and receive letters; reassuring Monsieur de Ruffey that his [Buffon's] aunt is in better health; asking about the new mistress of Malteste and reflecting that Cupid has become "si aveugle qu'il ne peut plus rien distinguer que le brillant de l'or" ; discussing the work of l'Abbé [Jean-Bernard] Leblanc; praising cities of Montauban and Toulouse; recounting visit to Carcassone, Béziers, and Narbonne; commenting on hot weather; indicating address to which the reply should be sent: "M. Leclerc en compagnie de My Lord duc de Kingston a l'adresse de M. Basiou Négociant à [sic] Montpellier."
