Explaining that her situation is more difficult than it appears to those who observe it; writing of her lack of hope with regard to "laffaire des evesques"; mentioning the Cardinal [Louis-Antoine] de Noailles and M. [Armand Bazin de Bezons, archevêque] de Bordeaux; recounting that Mme. [Virsin?] is much happier and that she is able to focus on what she receives from Mme. de Maintenon instead of what she lacks; writing that she has not seen the brother of the recipient, whose cause will be successful with the help of Mme [Marthe-Marguerite] de Ca[y]lus; relating that the recipient's nephew has written to Mme. [Virsin?] in order to gain entry for himself and his regiment to Valencien[n]es, which is believed to be in danger; explaining that she prefers not to intervene in a matter in which the nephew may be in danger; commenting on her conversation with "vostre premier president" about the current problems of their group; recounting that there is a lot of illness at [Saint-Cyr], but that she is well; lamenting the death of M. le Ma[récha]l de Boufflers [Jean-Louis-François, duc de Boufflers, comte de Cagny].
