Summary
Asking if he sold "the melancholy head" and referring to his need for "nice watercolours of woods & hills - my dear fellow what can I do about that. I have three or four at the moment but you know as well as I that all new work goes in to Dudley first. If he likes to send some to you I am delighted but as I work rather slowly he seldom has more than he can manage himself I think. But, really, anyone can sell watercolours of woods & hills by me[.] Why didn't you sell anything of mine in the group of paintings you had the other day - Do you know you have never sold an oil painting of mine for me never never never... & now a word to Erica / darling Erica I hope you are well & happy[.] I have been so anxious for you & Rex and your agreeable Warren since the bloody [illegible] began to renew his plastering of beloved London - There was a rumour once that Cort St had got it...oh dear...now all of us are so weary with war watching - I mean it isn't wholesome is it.
