Summary
Asking to borrow Mansions of the Dead "to reproduce in colour in my Penguin book;" discussing the commission on the sale of Coronilla and commenting that "As a principle however I still think that where the artist makes a sacrifice - & often it is by the advice or persuasion of the dealer, the dealer also should make some sacrifice;" saying "I am writing from my Boars Hill retreat where I am living for a short space to give Margaret a rest... I have 12 new watercolours on the way to completion. I hope some get to you via Dudley. Silbury Hill is sold at last, hurray!;" thanking him for the check on account and saying he would be glad to have all he can spare "as I have now to face some horrid expenses over the Hampstead house - how life goes on hammering one. It is rather pleasant up here except for this bloody weather - Quite lovely country looking over Bagley Woods to Wittenham Clumps in the distance & a charming neglected garden - interesting in forms & colours."
