To the left, Ivanhoe, wearing armor over a coat of mail and a plumed helmet with the visor raised, accepts an emblazoned shield and a battle axe from a squire (center) who stands looking at him, hand on hip. In the background on the right, squires with shields and spears stand waiting next to a horse. Scribbles of heads, all in profile to left on a larger scale, fill the center and bottom of the page. An embroidered hanging looped with tassles and two unfinished hangings fill the top of the page.
