Expressing sympathy at his plight; saying "... things seem so hard sometimes. But I won't bother you with complaints! I'm just always attempting things beyond my capacity, I guess. ...I live alone with my eldest boy, who works on the farm (14) & we [illegible] with an old labourer up the street. Gipsy & other children live now in Bedford with her brother. I'm too irritable & 'awful', I guess;" discussing plans to visit him' discussing someone named Ann(?) who "After a period of trying to make another life she seemed to find that memory way too strong, & broke away; & now, she says, 'for ever'."
