Summary
Thanking him for his letter; saying he "look[s] forward to the Henley article"; commenting on the world post-W.W. II: "the prospect seems fairly hopeless. How I loathe the scientists! ... I believe even now a peace of some 80-100 years duration could be extracted from the situation, if people were really interested -- but they aren't! Every new war makes the final war nearer and more immediate! And envy and a kind of un-Christian abnegation and sloth are the ruling passions here."
