The postcard has a colored photograph of St John's College, Oxford on the verso.
The postcard is accompanied by a letter from Seeger's sister, Elizabeth Seeger (1889-1973) to Mr. Genns, written on stationery printed "124 East 91 / New York 28" and dated October 13; replying to his request for an autograph of Alan Seeger; apologizing that it does "not bear the whole signature" but that if she should find one she will send it...My brother and I sold most of Alan's manuscripts a few years ago;" adding "This letter of Alan's must have been written in early August, 1914, because he says that the war has already broken out. He enlisted in August, so the date can be guessed approximately."
