The excerpt is undated, however Lady Sackville published her first book of poems in 1901 and the publication date of Romance is 1913.
There is no indication of an intended recipient on the manuscript, however, it is possible it is the excerpt she refers to in a letter to Mr. Gwynne Hughes (MA 5141.57) in response to a request from him for an autographed poem; this excerpt is the first 5 lines of 'Romance' and the 4th line from the end; it is written on the verso of the same stationery she used in her letter to Mr. Hughes.
