Summary
Concerning books he has inscribed and is having sent to him through Stevens & Brown; saying he has asked them to send "copies of my 'Winnowing Fan', 'Anvil', and 'Auguries; & this morning I went in & wrote my name in them. I did the same for a copy of 'The Death of Adam'...& wish I could afford to give more, but one has so many requests of the same kind & the war is hitting us so hard that I hope you won't think me mean. I am grateful to you for the opportunity of being associated with American authors who believe in the Western Cause. My Catalogue of Japanese prints will I hope be out in a short time. The illustrations have been a great trouble & caused many months' delay : but the book is all printed;" adding in a postscript that he only signed the books with his name but sees that he asked for more than that and therefore will try to get back to Stevens & Brown to add a line.
