Summary
Noting that he has "never received one shilling" from the "purchase of Mr. Burk[']s lands"; complaining that the settlers on Prince Edward Island have been "instigated by the Abby Callone, and assisted by a Mr. [John] Wentworth who came here lately in the office of Attorney General" to "set up a claim to the lands themselves, by length of possession and as having been forfeited to the crown for non performance of the conditions on which they were granted"; adding that "most of the tenantry [have] refused to pay their rents"; telling him that the bearer of this letter, a Captain Stewart, will fill him in on the particulars; asking for help in "procuring such a settlement of our colonial affairs as will effectually protect us in future from the effects of such unhappy delusions."
