Contains the journal from the print of William and Thomas Bradford, of 1774; the "Memorial to the Inhabitants of the American Colonies"; "Address to the People of Great Britain"; "Memorial to the Inhabitants of Quebec"; and printed copies of each state's meeting minutes or resolutions electing delegates to attend the Continental Congress of 1774. captions for the portraits of all the Deputies of this Congress, and all of their autographs, with a single exception.
The Morgan Library's copy contains the following autograph note signed by Thomas Addis Emmet on the t.p. verso: "I have illustrated two copies of this edition, which I had specially printed for the purpose. The first is now in the Lenox Library as part of the 'Emmet Collection,' and the second I have just completed with the addition of autographs, portraits, head & tail pieces, &c. -- Altogether making one of the most beautiful works I have ever illustrated. Of the printed portion only, I presented the third copy to Mr. D.M.N. Stauffer of New York, & the others have passed into the possession of Mr. Albert Rosenthal of Philadelphia -- Thos. Addis Emmet, M.D. New York Dec. 12th 1900."
The Morgan Library's copy is bound at the end of a collection of autograph letters and documents signed by all the members of the Continental Congress of 1774. The meeting minutes or resolutions electing delegates are bound throughout the volume by state, preceeding the portraits and signatures of the signers from that state. The remaining sections are bound at the end of the volume (MA 556).
