Summary
Telling him that he was honored to receive "a set of your Grace's splendid edition of the Irish Historians"; noting that he is "very anxious to place in the magnificent library at Stowe, some volumes which may in some degree express [his] sense of very great obligation"; sending him a copy of the Bannatyne Club's edition of Memoirs of His Own Life by Sir James Melville of Halhill; promising to send him more books printed by the Bannatyne Club "if this small offering should be acceptable," and discussing other books that are in preparation.
