Summary
Informing him that Mrs. Craik's latest novel will appear in Macmillan's Magazine beginning in May and as they had agreed to take it on, he will send them "the sheets regularly in advance;" responding to their inquiry about illustrations saying he has "made enquiry & find there could be two illustrations a month for £12. This includes the drawing & engraving;" telling them that it is expected "that the novel will extend over twelve numbers altho' it is possible it may be one or two more;" commenting that he thinks this novel "almost the best work my wife ever wrote;" adding that "Another house applied to me for it, but I said I felt morally bound to you, altho' if you chose to arrange with them I had not a word to say."
