Summary
Asking for an additional £100 for 'Head of the Family';" asking if he will take her "Boys' Book? It is for lads of from ten to fifteen - a Story -- or rather an imaginary autobiography entitled 'A Hero';" telling him that as she does not yet need the money for 'Alice Learmont' "she may as well get on a little better. You know I made no bargain for her - believing you would give me the same as Mrs. Gaskell told me you gave her for the first 2000 of the Moorland Cottage - which I trust you will;" adding "You know, I am a conscientious young woman, & couldn't sleep o nights if I cheated my publisher, but at the same time I trust to you always to give me the full honest value for what I do, that I may not have to go to any one else. And please make your big profits - which of course you want & deserve - out of less honest literary folks than I."
