Summary
Informing him that she has corrected the Ogilvies and it is ready for the 2nd edition; asking to review the proof sheets; saying she had been expecting to hear from him, as he had promised, "For even the correcting of these second editions deserves a 'consideration' from you & I am sure you will not refuse it - £600 for four standard novels has been small enough payment -- when Mrs. Oliphant & most others get £400 each. Still let by gones be by gones : as of course it was a risk -- But you must be aware that it is no risk now -- but that you have the copy right in your hands indefinitely -- while I have nothing. And I feel no scruple in thus asking for what I know I cannot claim -- believing that very fact would incline you to be both liberal and just."
