Agreeing to his suggestion to delay publication for a few months and saying she will have "no difficulty in making the addition you desire;" expressing her displeasure that the publication delay might mean a delay in the payment to her of the £100 she was due on publication which she assumed was to be immediate; explaining to him that she has started work on a Christmas book which she planned to send him upon its completion; asking if he would consider advancing her £50 now and the remaining £50 "on the day of publication;" reminding him that she has fulfilled her part by always delivering the manuscripts on time "with all the additions the printer then thought necessary -- & that whenever I have received proofs, I have returned them within a few hours, invariably to Mr. Hervey, as was your wish;" asking for his reply at his earliest convenience and adding that the "part I wish to remodel is about the middle of Vol. III -- relative to the second meeting of Philip & Eleanor" and will require "an extension of at least three chapters."
