Thanking him for his "poetick morsel"; discussing different scholars' views of [Alexander] Pope's translation of Homer; commenting on the review of Cowper's most recent book [The Task] in The Monthly Review; mentioning Cowper's work on the Iliad, and adding that the public may want him to translate the Odyssey next; telling him he has "a present" for him, "the prime feather of a swan"; sending him a list of people who have said they will subscribe to his translation of Homer's Iliad.
